Renault Captur 1.0 TCe timing chain tensioner — same as Clio
Rattling noise from the engine on cold start on the Renault Captur with the 1.0 TCe three-cylinder engine. The H4D engine has the same timing chain tensioner sensitivity issue as the Renault Clio and Dacia Sandero with this engine. The fault is well documented by Renault and a revised tensioner kit is available. Oil changes must not exceed 10,000 km intervals and 5W-40 fully synthetic oil must be used. If noise exceeds 10 seconds after cold start, treat as urgent.
