Renault Clio 0.9 TCe engine carbon deposit — rough idle
Rough idle, misfiring at low RPM, and hesitation on acceleration. The 0.9 TCe three-cylinder engine in the Renault Clio Mk4 is a direct injection engine susceptible to intake valve carbon buildup. Symptoms develop gradually between 60,000 and 100,000 km. An intake cleaning service using chemical solvents or walnut blasting resolves the rough running. The 0.9 TCe also has a known timing chain tensioner weakness — inspect simultaneously.
