BMW 730d EGR Valve Carbon Fouling — Limp Mode
The EGR system on E65/E66 730d accumulates carbon deposits over time, eventually restricting or seizing the valve. The ECU detects out-of-range EGR flow and triggers limp mode, limiting boost and power. Fault codes P0400/P0401/P0402 are stored. Cleaning resolves approximately 60% of cases; replacement needed otherwise. EGR cooler should be inspected at the same time.
