MG ZS EV battery range loss — real world degradation
The MG ZS EV loses charging capacity after 2-3 years, with real-world range reducing from 263 km (claimed) to 190-220 km. The 44.5 kWh battery uses standard NMC lithium-ion cells without active thermal management in earlier models. Range loss of 15-20% over 60,000 km is within normal parameters for an unmanaged battery system. Avoiding regular DC fast charging above 80% and not depleting below 20% slows capacity loss. The 2022+ ZS EV Long Range 72.6 kWh variant has improved battery management.
