Toyota Prius hybrid inverter water pump failure
Hybrid system warning illuminated. The inverter cooling system uses a separate electric water pump that can fail silently. If the inverter overheats due to coolant pump failure, the hybrid system shuts down and the vehicle enters fail-safe mode with severely reduced performance. The inverter water pump should be inspected every 60,000 miles and replaced preventively on high-mileage vehicles.
