Honda CR-V 1.5T engine oil dilution — petrol in oil
Engine oil level rising above maximum on the dipstick with a strong petrol smell. The 1.5 VTEC Turbo engine in the Honda CR-V Mk5 has a confirmed oil dilution issue caused by petrol washing past the piston rings into the engine oil, particularly in cold climates and in vehicles used for short journeys. Honda issued a software update to increase engine operating temperature and reduce warm-up time. In severe cases, the short engine block requires replacement under warranty.
